A few weeks ago while on my break from work I went to Starbucks. There were two men sitting outside and from the way they were dressed I could tell they were homeless. As I was leaving one of them asked me if I wouldn’t mind helping the homeless. I told him I didn’t have any cash and that’s when he said, “I don’t want your money, I want you to pray for me.” I was shocked when he said that but I told him I would pray for him as well as his friend. So I stood there, closed my eyes and asked God to wrap his loving arms around Bob and Dennis and anyone else in their position. I prayed for God to bless them with shelter, food, and jobs. As I finished praying they thanked me and told me to be blessed.
I went back to work amazed at what had just happened. I realized how blessed I was to have a job, a car, a roof over my head, etc. I also realized that I should be more grateful. Even though I knew in a few weeks I would be jobless due to my store’s closing, I still had the support of a loving family. I would still be able to go to my house, sleep in my bed, and not wonder where my next meal was coming from.

Whenever I think about gratitude I first think about eyesight, hearing, etc. Your article gave me something to think about. I’m curious to see your next update.
Thanks for reading! 🙂
Thought provoking article. Made me think of the time the apostle Paul reminding us to be content/happy at all times because our joy should not be determined by the situation we are in – this life is temporal – we look forward to eternal life with Him.
“I know how to live when I am poor and when I have plenty. I have learned the secret of how to live through any kind of situation—when I have enough to eat or when I am hungry, when I have everything I need or when I have nothing. Christ is the one who gives me the strength I need to do whatever I must do.”
– Philippians 4:12,13 (ERV)
Gratitude can be a small gesture that impacts in ways words cannot express. Recently I received a thinking of you card from a cousin and it made me smile. It lifted me and I am unable to truly express how I feel other than to say greatful.
I’m grateful for a hug from my husband and my children.
Any new updates on gratitude?
